Qubek (aka Russell Meehan)
Qubek (who also paints as Mural Life) is Russell Meehan, an artist with more than 16 years’ experience. He has painted walls all over the city – notably the 22 huge Northern Quarter Bees, a memorial for the 22 Arena victims. Qubek uses a rich palette of sophisticated colours and subtle shading which adds depth and detail to all his work.
In Chorlton, he created the brilliant Dangermouse, facing the library entrance on Manchester Road. He was also commissioned by Democracy PR on Beech Road to paint a mural that pays tribute to Chorlton’s place in popular culture. He’s created wonderful wildlife for the storage container in Chorlton Park and most recently, his exuberant, large-scale celebration of Chorlton animators, Cosgrove Hall can be seen along the hoardings at the former Baths site on Manchester Road.
